Luis Amaral has over 30 years of management experience, gained in various international industries. Luis commenced his professional career as a trainee at Unilever Portugal, where he worked for over 5 years, occupying several managerial positions in sales and marketing departments.
In 1989 Luis joined Nissan Portugal as a Marketing Director, in 1994 he became a Board Member, responsible for sales, marketing and logistics. Luis was also a member of Nissan advertising group in Europe. In 1995 Luis went to Poland as a CEO of Jeronimo Martins Poland. He was developing the company until 1999, when it reached a turnover of over 1 billion EUR. In July 1999 he was promoted to the position of a Member of Jeronimo Martins Holding Executive Committee in Lisbon.
In July 2000 Luis Amaral moved to South America, where, as a Partner in the Antfactory Investment Fund, he activated his funds on the markets of Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. In 2001 Luis Amaral joined the LAEPBrasil Investment Fund specializing in distressed assets, holding the position of Senior Partner.
In 2003 Luis made a MBO of Eurocash from Jeronimo Martins and in 2005 Eurocash entered the Warsaw Stock Exchange. Eurocash started to take over various companies which allowed it to become the 6th biggest in Poland with sales of over 5.5 billion EUR, over 15 000 self owned stores and in Franchise systems and approximately 22 000 employees.
I bought “Praia Campainha” in December 2019 with the intention of creating a “one of a kind” African retreat to cater for the “Most Travelled People in the World mtp.travel seeking for the ultimate travel escape. I wish to bring to SECRETUM, the best of Africa in terms of Artistic, Sensorial and Culinary experiences.
Príncipe Island is still on the list of the “least travelled countries in the world” but has attracted travellers from far beyond who are lured to this destination for its unmatched landscape, often referred to as Jurassic Park, along with its incomparably friendly and genuine local population.
The sustainable approach defined by the regional government along with some well-established tourism stakeholders, gave me the confidence to invest in such a unique place.
Environmental protection and community engagement are the pillars of this venture and I believe that we have the right ecosystem to make it an example to the world in terms of responsible development in alignment with the sustainable development goals of the United Nations.
